Not quite Mini Mahjer anymore, not quite NMJL yet. The Midi Mahjer Card is exactly where you need to be.
You crushed the Mini Mahjer Card. You're not ready to tackle the full NMJL Card. So now what? Enter the Midi Card - the bridge that levels you up without throwing you in the deep end.
The Midi Card adds three new sections (The Year, Quintets, and Singles & Pairs), bumps you up to ~45 line options, and introduces two game-changing concepts: Points and Concealed Hands. It's more complex, more strategic, and a whole lot more satisfying.
But don't worry — we didn't forget you're still learning. The Midi keeps Mini Mahjer's signature visual style: easy-to-read colors, larger print, helpful icons, line examples, and highlighted Concealed Hands so nothing surprises you. Patterns are still 12 tiles long (not NMJL's 14), and every feature is designed to build your confidence.

I taught my eight-year-old how to play Mahjong with a regular card when she was six. She obviously needed help to pick hands, but she totally grasped how to play the game. I got her the mini card and the midi card. Within a week she had mastered playing with both of those cards and is back to playing with the adult card with a much better understanding and much more confidence. She has beat me several times on the regular card now without any help from any adult, highly recommend these cards as stepping stones they definitely clarified a lot for her and gave her the confidence to pick her hands.
